One of the most common responses I get when I tell people that I am a Virtual Assistant is, “What, so you just like do typing and stuff?” Erm, no actually I don’t!
In order to demolish the notion that VAs ‘just do typing and stuff’ below is an excerpt from my diary of the many and varied things that I did for my clients last week!

Monday

  • Developed a number of legal precedents;
  • Contact management system update;
  • Bookings of inter-state flights, accommodation, hire car etcetera;
  • Sourced and purchased a number of client gifts.

Tuesday

  • Focus group transcription;
  • Website updates using WordPress;
  • Updating and stylising the formatting of an operations manual;
  • Phone calls to client’s clients to confirm appointments.

Wednesday

  • Power Point presentation for use at a conference;
  • Interview transcription;
  • Preparation of job descriptions & employee feedback forms;
  • Compiled and distributed a client’s e-Newsletter.

Thursday

  • Interview transcription;
  • Set up a Twitter account & Facebook fan page;
  • Prepared a mail merge to notify my client’s customers of an increase in fees;
  • Copy typing.

Friday

  • Scanning and conversion to PDF of client files;
  • Website updates using WordPress;
  • Short listing applications to a client’s positions vacant advertisement;
  • Developed a style guide for a new client.

One of the things that I love about my business is that every day sees me using a different skill or drawing on a different knowledge basis. I can go from transcribing a focus group, to updating a contact management system, to short listing job applications, to developing a procedure manual and many, many things in between!
So, is there anything that I can do for you next week?
